Technical:
- Software Development Engineer (SDE) II Position

- Description: We are seeking a self-directed and flexible SDE who will design and implement solutions to solve scientific problems on a variety of projects. You will work on the design, implementation, testing, and analysis of solutions to meet IAVO’s needs on projects involving scientific visualization, mathematical analysis, image analysis, optimization, and more. Furthermore, we have many exciting upcoming projects for which we need a competent, hardworking, flexible, and driven SDE who consistently and proactively seeks opportunities to drive forward the state-of-the-art in computational engineering. If you are an industrious, well-natured professional and want to work in an enterprising and varied field, in a small company atmosphere, IAVO may be the right place for you.
- Responsibilities: As a SDE II, you will work with other developers and research scientists to participate in the design, development, and testing of scientific algorithms, task optimization, visualization tools, and more. You will also communicate openly with project leads and other team members in relation to the status of current projects, and express your thoughts, decisions, accomplishments, and roadblocks in semi-regular meetings.
Additional responsibilities would include:
- Working within an established development architecture for a large-scale commercial software package;
- Maintain and support multiple production applications;
- Creating and maintaining custom software modules;
- Ensuring that customer expectations are clear and deadlines are met;
- Create and review software documentation;
- Participate in evaluation of new technologies;
- Participate in code reviews; and
- Refactor existing code to increase maintainability.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, plus at least 5 years’ experience (or equivalent) in software development;
- Expertise in C++ and C#;
- Experience with both Windows and Linux environments;
- Experience with code editors, visual debugging tools, and version control systems; and
- Experience with modern graphics programming, using APIs such as OpenGL.
